Dear Reader,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Medicare College of Applied Sciences, a school that offers excellent tuition and in-depth practical training in clinical diagnostics as well as medical and industrial research. It is located at the heart of the Garden city of Ghana, Kumasi, at Pankrono Overseas, off the Mampong road.

Medicare College of Applied Sciences began in 1995 as Medicare Research Centre, a reputable laboratory that offered excellent services in clinical diagnosis. That same year the cenntre commenced the training of laboratory assistants for use within the laboratory. The efficiency with which these technicians performed their duty endeared them to the hearts of other clinics and laboratories in Kumasi. Soon after our first graduates passed out, other students enrolled to undertake apprenticeship at Medicare Research Centre. All our products are highly motivated because of the excellent practical tuition we have given over the years. Today, they are working in clinics and hospitals, both private and government owned, around the country, with some managing hospital laboratories.

In October 2010, it was decided to institutionalize our training program. For that reason, the Medicare College of Applied Sciences was formed to offer diploma in Laboratory Practice and Management. We believe that though useful, theoretical education has limited benefits, as graduates are usually not well prepared for work in clinical laboratories and industry due to their limited practical knowledge. Often, such graduates would have to receive on the job training in order to be productive. That is expensive to employers, and explains why many graduates are unemployed today.

Medicare College of Applied Sciences is, today, pursuing an alternative approach to graduate unemployment. The policy is to lay more emphasis on practical training for students in their chosen fields of endeavor. This conviction has prompted the establishment of well-equipped laboratories for the training of our precious students. Furthermore, our students are trained to do research in areas relevant to their training, and to be independent and assertive graduates. For these reasons we expect them to come out highly qualified, motivated, and ready to work as career technicians.
