CLINICAL STUDIES ON MEDBALM
DESCRIPTION:
MEDBALM is a herbal product comprising five(5) herbs and herbal extracts with menthol added as a soothing agent.
The product is non-toxic. Work on MEDBALM commenced on 21/1/98 and it has been tried for efficacy for ten (10)
months for:
- Pain, Inflammation and Strees
- Antibacterial Activity
- Antifungal Effects and
- Insect Bites e.g. Bee and Scorpion stings.
RESULTS:
MEDBALM has effectively relieved patients of pains e.g. headache, stiff neck, burns(scalding) and even pain from
surgical operation within 2-15 minutes. It has also effectively treated most skin infectious of bacterial, fungal and
even viral origin within 3-5 days. These include athlete's foot, ring worm fungal infectious nails, boils mastitis, ulcers
and even shingles. MEDBALM has been used to treat toothache and gum infectious simply by massaging the region
of the mouth and lips as well as the gums. Sore throat has been relieved by simply massaging the throat with the
ointment. Licking MEDBALM relives patients of asthma attack within 10 minutes.
The product has also relieved adults and children of fever within 15 minutes after massaging.
MEDBALM has been used as a hand and astringent ointment and is being followed for its cosmetic effect on the
skin. MEDBALM has been applied to relieve patients of scorpion and bee stings as well as inflammation from snake
bite.
APPLICATION:
MEDBALM is applied externally as massage ointment. Sometimes it is applied on the gum using cotton wool.
MEDBALM has no burning effect on the skin and is non-toxic when ingested.

RESEARCH:
Independent research on MEDBALM has been carried out by FACULTY OF PHARMACY. It was found out that
MEDBALM is active against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria and candida subtilis.

Medicare college was set up in 1995 as a clinical diagnostics, Medical and industrial research, and Material processing
enterprise. The health products division began to emerge in 1997 when Medbalm, a wholly herbal ointment was produced
after extensive
research. Presently, research is far advanced into the formulation of a herbal anti-per spirant, a beverage which enhances red
blood cell production as well as lactation in breast-feeding mothers, and a herbflavored whisky.
Microbiological and Toxicological Tests Performed on Medbalm
Microbiological tests performed at Department of Phamaceutics and Pharmacology of the Faculty of Pharmacy Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology showed that Medbalm was active against the microbes listed below,
Staphyloccocus aureus - KATH / UST.
Bacillus subtilis - KATH / UST.
Escherichia coli - KATH / UST.
Candida albicans - KATH / UST. (Test Ref: D/cent C9. Test Date 19/11/02)
Toxicological studies demonstrated no toxicological effect on the subjects studied.
MEDBALM
Medbalm is produced from local herbs. Since 1997, it has been subjected to phytochemical studies and clinical tests to demonstrate]
its efficacy as a topical ointment.
ANTI-MICROBIAL AGENT
Medbalm is effective as an anti- bacterial and anti- fungal agent Clinical trials show that it is effective against a number of bacterial,
fungal and viral skin infections. It has therefore been used to treat skin diseases such as boils, athlete's foot, ringworm, shingles as
well as sores and other skin diseases. Pain associated with some of these problems stops within one hour and the disease disappear
within one week
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
Medbalm has been found to be effective for all forms of inflammation such as those caused by infection, burns or accident. For this reason
it has been effective for treating boils, burns, injuries and inflammations resulting from snake bites, scorping and bee stings as well as bleeding
piles.
ANALGESIC
Medbalm is powerful analgesic. Its activity as such has been demonstrated in most forms of pain such as rheumatism, injury, mentrual pain,
stomach pain and headache (inculding migraine), etc. It has been used as treatment for minor burns for which it relieves one of pain within 20-30
minute. No blisters or inflammation results in MEDBALM is applied within 5 minutes after burn. Medbalm has also been used to relief pain from
and eye infections such as conjuctivitis.
AFTERSHAVE, DEODORIZER AND MOSQUITO REPELLENT.
Medbalm destroys bacteria which feed on sweat. It has been used effectively for the above purposes. Socks remain odourless for days when
Medbalm is first applied on the feet. Futhermore, when applied in the armpit shirts remain odourless.
MODE OF APPLICATION.
Headache, rheumatism, neck and back pains, Tired limbs, sprains, etc.
Massage Medbalm profusely on the affected area twice a day especially after bathing. As treatment for headache massage on the forehead and temples (relieves pain within 5-10 minutes).
Inflammation such as boils, whitloo, mastitis, skin diseases such as shingles, athletes foot fungal infections of finger, ringworm, etc.
Gently rub Medbalm on the affected area. In the cases of whitloo and fungal infections of the finger, apply Medbalm profusely over the affected area and dress with cotton wool and bandage or plaster.
Eye infection and inflammation such as conjunctivitiss
Close the eye and gently rub Medbalm on the eyelids 4-5 times a day taking care that the ointment does not get into eyes. Pain is relieved within one hour and the infection abates within 24hours
Inflammation arising from snake bites, scorpion, bee and wasp stings
Appy Medbalm on affected area for relief of pain. One gets relief within 15-20 minutes. In cases of snakebites the inflammation abates within three days and the patient is able to walk with less difficulty. NB: Medbalm is not used to treat fresh snakebites. Such patients must be rushed to the hospital for immediate attention.
Burns (scalding, etc)
Immediately apply Medbalm copiously on affected area. This must be repeated after 30 minutes and three times daily. The pain normally goes down considerably within 20 minutes. When applied within 5 minutes minor scalding normally heals completely within 24 hours.
NB. For serious burns Medbalm can only act as first aid. The patient must be rushed to the hospital or nearest clinic.
Bleeding Piles (Hermorrhoids)
Apply copiously on affected area. Bleeding normally ceases within three days and the pain within 24hours.
the piles usually disappear within 10 days.
Aftershave and Deordorizer
Rub before and after shaving using only sharp blades. Avoid blunt blades.
To prevent odours, rub Medbalm in the armpits after bathing.
Mosquito Repellent
Rub on the exposed areas of skin as and when necessary.
NB. Medbalm is very effective when applied after bath that is the time when the skin is very clean. For emergnecies apply immediately.
